William Francis Welty, age 63 of 226 Coe Street, Tiffin died unexpectedly on Friday, January 16, 2009 while visiting family in Lehigh Acres, Florida.

He was born on January 14, 1946 in Tiffin to the late Otto F. and Berneice (Strasbaugh) Welty.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Welty of Tiffin; a daughter, Lori (Butch) Bacon of Naples, Florida; three grandchildren, Allen, Jake, and Emma Bacon; and a sister, Irene (Dwight) Mason of Republic.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Welty.

Bill was a 1964 Calvert High School graduate. He served in the United States Air Force. He had worked for 37 years at National Machinery, until 2001. He then worked for DBI until October of 2007.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club, New Riegel Moose and the American Legion.

Bill was an avid golfer and he enjoyed boating and going to McDonalds every morning for coffee with his friends. He especially liked to head south in the winter to play with his grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A Wake Service will be at 1:45 pm at the funeral home on Thursday.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 am, Friday, January 23, 2009 at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow immediately in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to the funeral Mass.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
