William C. Felton, age 78, of Gross St., Tiffin, died Friday, May 13, 2005, as a result of an auto accident in Seneca County.
He was born October 21, 1926, in Toledo, to the late Rex and Erma (Lehman) Felton. On October 20, 1951, in Tiffin, he married Mary Weinig, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Baumgardner of Lexington, KY; five sons, Tom Felton of Burbank, CA, Mitch (Nadine) Felton, Jack (Kathy) Felton, & Dan (Kristi) Felton, all of Tiffin, and Scott (Nancy) Felton of Morrow, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Brian, Will, & Sara Baumgardner, Alyssa, Toria, & Ari Felton, Andy, Mary Elizabeth, & Zach Felton, Dean Felton, Richard Geiser, and Lauren & Mark Felton; and a brother, Rex (Phyllis) Felton of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Mark L. Felton, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Felton.
Mr. Felton was the Chairman of the Board of United Insurance Service and an insurance agent for 55 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tiffin, and was also a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, Past President of Mohawk Golf Club, Past President of the Tiffin Kiwanis Club, Past President of the Betty Jane Rehabilitation Center Board, Past President of the Tiffin Columbian Athletic Boosters, a Board Member of the Bud Foundation, and a Past President of the Westfield Agents Association. He was a 1944 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and attended Dartmouth College. He served aboard the U.S.S. Nelson in the Navy during World War II.
A funeral Mass will be 11 am, Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Revs. Frank Murd, William Rose, and Richard Dunn celebrating. The Rosary will be recited in the church at 10:45 am Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 17, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm, at the Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Memorials may be made to Tiffin Parks and Recreation, Tiffin Columbian Athletic Boosters, or to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
