Walter John Grombka, age 87, of Cincinnati, formerly of Tiffin and Port Clinton, Ohio, died at 11:15 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2007, at St. Mary’s Memorial Home, Cincinnati.
He was born April 18, 1919, in Cleveland, to the late Joseph and Agatha (Bohenek) Grombka. On February 28, 1946, in Dougherty, Iowa, he married Marjorie L. Rooney, who died June 27, 2000.
Survivors include four daughters, Pat (Robert) Lux of Cincinnati, Kathy Fox of Dumfries, Virginia, Mary Jo (Jeff) Paris of Atlanta, Georgia, and Deborah Grombka of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a sister, Stella Dvorak of St. Albans, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Grombka, and a sister, Jenny Husek.
Mr. Grombka graduated high school in McMechen, West Virginia and graduated from Case Western Reserve University. He retired as a mechanical engineer at National Machinery Company, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
Funeral Mass will be noon Thursday, March 1, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
