Virginia S. Schreiner, age 93, of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 11:10 am, Sunday, September 10, 2006, at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born March 20, 1913, in Fostoria, to the late Charles F. and Theresa (Emerine) Bangert. On September 2, 1946, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, she married Louis A. Schreiner. He died May 18, 1970.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne L. Gardner and Linda T. (Samuel R.) McKinney, both of Tiffin, and Carol J. (Richard L.) Hoffman of Fremont; eight grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith A. Vest; four brothers, Joseph, Orlo, Wilfred, & Carl Bangert; and two sisters, Grace A. Schreiner and Mary True.
Mrs. Schreiner was a 1932 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and a 1935 graduate of Betty Jean Beauty Academy of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a retired beautician. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society for 60 years. She was a member of the Secular Franciscans since 1956, where she served as Treasurer, President and Minister. She was a member of the Legion of Mary for 15 years, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 35 years, served as Regent, then was a Past Regent for 20 years. She also served as President and Treasurer of the Mary Help Society and was a member of the Bible Study Group.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday. September 14, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113, with Rev. Mickey McManus officiating. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father James Steinle. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Secular Franciscans, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
