Violet Mae Smith, age 78, of Port Clinton, Ohio, formerly of Tiffin and Toledo, Ohio, died June 7, 2002. She was born August 31, 1923, in Fremont, Ohio, to Frank A. and Anna Marie (Laubacher) Palmer. On October 10, 1942, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married James R. Smith, who died April 16, 1968. She is survived by a son, Paul J. (Jan) Smith; 2 daughters, Diane M. (Doug) Chaffin and Mary Ann (Greg) Hill; 8 grandchildren, Michael T. Taylor, Narell C. Sheets, Eric A. Smith, Jason M. Smith, Ryan P. Smith, Jessica E. Hill, Lucas B. Hill, and Marshall L. Hill; 5 great grandchildren, Dylan Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Michaela Sheets, Andrew Sheets, and Gavin B. Smith. A daughter, Dorothy (Dottie) Jean Lendo, and a sister, Doris Huffman, are deceased. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, and formerly a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
