Viola “Vi” J. Ardner, age 89 of S. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, died at 4:55 AM, Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her residence.
Vi was born on November 10, 1919 in Amsden, Ohio to the late Edward and Rose (Yost) Ardner.
She is survived by two brothers, Gilbert (Marge) Ardner of Tiffin and Lester (Lois) Ardner of Sandusky; and one sister, Loretta Mohr of Fremont and many nieces and nephews, among them Mary Snyder and her husband, Jerry, who took care of her these last three years.
Vi was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Robert Ardner, and three sisters, Emma Rose Ardner, Luella Ardner and Margaret Brandt.
Vi retired in 1979 after 33 years as a winder at General Electric. She was a volunteer seamstress for the Toledo Diocese as a Chasuble designer, having made over 3,000 vestments. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Auxiliary and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Visitation for Vi will be from 4-9 PM, Sunday October 18, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113. There will be a wake service at 3:30 PM at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 11:30 AM, Monday October 19, 2009 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverends Gary Walters, William Rose, David Ross and Kenneth Lill will con-celebrate the Mass. The rosary will be 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
Contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Mercy Hospital or St. Francis Home in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
