Vernon P. Fritz, age 88, of Mohawk St., Tiffin, died at 1:19 am Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born August 5, 1920, in Bettsville, to the late Perry and Pearl (Stull) Fritz. On June 2, 1947, in Tiffin, he married Marjorie Randell, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Lawrence (Anne) Fritz of Fort Worth, Texas, Paul (Leta) Fritz of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Randell (Karen) Fritz of Crowley,Texas; four grandchildren, William, Adam, Nicole, and Madison; two great grandchildren, Alexis and Terrell; a step great grandson, Dayton; and a brother, Glenn Fritz of Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Fritz, and a sister, Doris Patynko.
Mr. Fritz was a graduate of Bettsville High School. He retired from Tiffin Scenic Studios. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 169 for more than 60 years, a member of the New Riegel Euchre Club, and enjoyed playing cards. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army, having earned the Purple Heart.
Funeral Mass will be 10 am Saturday, August 16, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, August 15, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. Military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County at 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited in Church at 9:45 am Saturday.
