Thomas W. Lonsway, of Beechwood Drive, Tiffin, Ohio died at 11:40 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2006. He was born on June 28, 1931 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Louis and Margaret (Wade) Lonsway. On June 2, 1951 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Mary Ann Weinandy and she survives.
Other survivors include 1 son, Thomas (Anne) Lonsway of Rome, New York; 2 daughters, Joan (Nevin) Martin and Teresa (Dan) Hartman both of Tiffin; 1 daughter-in-law, Judy (Joseph) Lonsway of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren, Laura, Elizabeth, Karen, & Anne Lonsway, Megan, Nevin, Mollie, & Lydia Martin, Michelle (David) Mathes, Benjamin Lonsway, Todd, Danny, and Andrea Hartman.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Joseph Lonsway, Infant son, John Lonsway; a son-in-law, Nevin Martin; and a daughter-in-law, Marci (Muller) Lonsway.
Mr. Lonsway was a 1949 Calvert High School Graduate. He had retired in 1990, after 34 years of service at National Machinery, as a machinist. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, a Life member of the Elks, and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was coach and later commissioner of D League Baseball during the 1960’s. He also delivered Mobile Meals for twelve years.
Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Funeral Mass will be 11 am, Friday, January 6, 2006, at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Timothy Ferris. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or to St. Mary Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
