Reverend Thomas W. Ankenbrandt, 74, of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 12:16AM, Monday, November 1, 2004, at St Francis Home, Tiffin. He was born January 6, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late John and Florence (Munger) Ankenbrandt.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Blanche (Robert) Hager and Helen Shinaver Bouya, both of Oregon, Ohio. Also surviving are 15 devoted nieces and nephews and 31 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Pvt. John Ankenbrandt, Rev. Richard Ankenbrandt, O.S.F.S., and Gerald Ankenbrandt.
Rev. Ankenbrandt attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School, Toledo, and graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School in 1948. He attended St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana, and Mount St. Mary Theological School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was ordained May 26, 1956 as a Roman Catholic Priest in the Diocese of Toledo. He was an associate Pastor at St. Mary’s in Sandusky, St. Joseph in Fremont, St. Francis deSales in Toledo, St. Charles in Toledo, Holy Spirit Seminary in Toledo, St. Mary in Norwalk, St. Alphonse in Peru, and St. Joseph in Tiffin. He was Pastor at St. Joseph in Crestline, St. Mary in Edgerton and St. Joseph in Monroeville, before retiring to Tiffin in 1996. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin.
Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 3 pm, at St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. The body will then be moved to St. Mary Catholic Church, 85 S. Sandusky St., Tiffin, with Reception and Vesper Services at 4 pm, followed by visitation from 4 to 8 pm. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand Honor Guard from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the church. A Rosary will be recited at 10:45 am Thursday, Nov. 4, with the Funeral Mass following at 11 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Most Reverend Robert W. Donnelly, Auxiliary Bishop of the Toledo Diocese, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin.
