THOMAS JOSEPH SCHEIBER

Thomas Joseph Scheiber, age 83, formerly of Gibson Court, Tiffin, died at 1 pm, Sunday, December 24, 2006, at his daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Crestline, Ohio.

He was born October 12, 1923, in Tiffin, to the late Richard and Helen (Bustetter) Scheiber. On June 10, 1950 in Rensselaer, Indiana he married Rita T. Jarvis and she survives.

Other survivors include, one son, Thomas J. (Janice) Scheiber, of Attica, Ohio; one daughter, Tressa E. (Robert) Reith of Crestline, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lauren, Meredith, Lesley Scheiber, and Emily Reith; one brother, Richard (Phyllis) Scheiber, Tiffin; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Carbone of Rochester, New York.

He is preceded in death by one grandson, Douglas Scheiber.

Mr. Scheiber was a 1941 Calvert High School graduate. He graduated in 1948 from St. Joseph University in Rensselaer, Indiana and he later obtained his Master’s Degree from Indiana University. He had retired as a News Editor at the Advertiser-Tribune where had worked for 35 years.

He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin; a charter member of the Serra Club where he served in different capacities, a longtime member of the Men’s Choir at St. Joseph church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The Funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. James K. Say at 11 am Thursday, December 28, 2006 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
