Thomas G. Borer, 68, of West TR 96, New Riegel, died at 6:50am Saturday, March 31, 2007 at his residence. He was born on October 28, 1938 in Seneca County, Ohio to the late George and Louise (Hohman) Borer. On June 11, 1960 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Margy Baker and she survives.
Other survivors include, three sons, Charles J. Borer; Thomas J. (Nancy) Borer; William G. Borer all of New Riegel; two daughters, Brenda S. (David) Conley; of New Riegel and Julie A. (Rusty) Adkins of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Edward (Trish) Borer of Tiffin; Gerald Borer of Findlay; Daniel (Elaine) Borer of New Riegel; three sisters, Nancy (Herbert) Lucius of New Washington; Eileen (Vic) Schuerman of Pemberville; and Diane Borer of Tiffin; one uncle, Ernest Hohman; and three aunts, Carol Borer, Mary Lykens and Bertha Coleman.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Gale Borer Busack; his parents; a brother, Donald Borer and a sister, Dorothy Kuhn.
Mr. Borer was a 1956 New Riegel High School graduate. He had retired after 37 years as an independent truck driver. Tom was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel; the New Riegel Moose, a 50 + year member of the Catholic Knights of Ohio; New Riegel Knights of Columbus; the Fraternal Association of Steel Haulers; Independent Drivers Association, Concerned Truckers of Ohio, and a Lifetime member of the NRA.
His hobbies included watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews play sports; playing cards with family and friends, he enjoyed Sprint car races and tractor pulls.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday, and 2-8 pm Monday at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand Honor Guard from 6-8 pm Monday. CK of O Service will be 4 pm Monday, with Parish Wake Service at 7:45 pm Monday, at the funeral home.
The Funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. Ron Schock at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in All Saints Parish, New Riegel. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in church 15 minutes prior to the Mass.
Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to Bridge-Hospice of Findlay in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
The Celebration of Life Tribute will be available on Sunday. If you have dial-up, it may take up to 25 minutes to load, but it is well worth it.
