Thomas A. Goetz, age 73 years, of 14709 Mt. Olive Road, Centreville, Virginia formerly of Tiffin, Ohio died at 8:24 AM, November 2, 2003 at Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. He was born August 23, 1930 in Tiffin, Ohio to Carl ( Jack) and Alma (Fox) Goetz. On December 27, 1958, he married Cecilia Ann Ferrall in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She died in 1977.
Survivors include 2 sons, Michael Goetz of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mark Goetz of Chicago, Illinois;
2 daughters, Susan (Thomas) Markel of Centreville, Virginia, and Amy Goetz of New York, New York; 2 granddaughters, Anna and Erica Markel; 2 brothers, Carl Goetz of Brandenton, Florida and James Goetz of Tiffin and his stepmother, Lois Goetz of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Elchert.
Mr. Goetz attended St. Joseph School, was a 1948 Calvert High School graduate, he graduated from Assumption College in Windsor, Canada, and received his Masters Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. He was a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He taught elementary school in New Riegel, Clinton Township, new Philadelphia, Carollton, and he was a principal at Chester Elementary School in the Northwestern School District in Wayne County, Ohio. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin and the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, in Clifton, VA and also a member of the Knight of Columbus.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the United Veteran’s Council.
