Theresa V. Leibengood, age 89, of Tiffin, Ohio died at 3:05 pm, Monday, June 9, 2008, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She was born on January 14, 1919 in New Riegel, Ohio to the late Roman and Mary (Huber) Schalk. On September 13, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin she married Francis J. Leibengood. He died on May 27, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Karen) Leibengood of Bucyrus, Alan (Liz) Leibengood of Fostoria; two daughters, Mary Leibengood of Tiffin, and Sr. Judy Leibengood, OSF of Lima, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a sister, Martha (Herman) Sendelbach of Tiffin.
Mrs. Leibengood was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Schalk and Edmund Schalk, and a sister, Louise Gardner.
Theresa, a homemaker, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, the Rosary Altar Society, Know Your Neighbor Club, a 4-H Advisor, the Sewing Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 169, Tiffin.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday, June, 13, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends and Family may visit from 2-8 pm Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake service at the funeral home at 3:45 pm Thursday.
Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Community Hospice Care, St. Francis Home, St. Francis Convent and to St. Joseph School in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
