Sue D. Kurtz, age 74, of Tiffin, was called by the Lord at 10:50 PM, Monday, May 9, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 14, 1936 to the late Vincent and Mary Angela (Durso) Stefanelli in Tiffin, Ohio. Sue married and had five children.
Sue is survived by; two sons, Vincent (Dawn) Kurtz and Karl (Michelle) Kurtz, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Stephanie (Rick) Rooney, of Delta, Ohio, Theresa (Jr.) Shrode, of Tiffin, and Nicole (Jason) Fry of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Nathan Long, Derek Fry, Vincent Kurtz, Dakota Archer, Will Kurtz, Kelsie Fry, and Grant Kurtz; one step-granddaughter, Heather Gaietto; two great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Marleigh Long; one step great-granddaughter Autumn Stahlsworth; and a great grandchild on the way; two brothers, Joseph Stefanelli of Perrysburg, Eugene Stefanelli of Henderson, Nev.; and one sister, Mary Eichhorn of Tiffin.
Sue was preceded in death by a brother, Nazaro Stefanelli.
Sue graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1954. She was a housekeeper and cook at St. Mary’s Rectory, retiring after 18 years of service. Sue was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She spent many hours volunteering her services as a Collection Counter, Youth Board member, CCE, Soup Kitchen volunteer, Classroom helper, a Festival worker for the Boutique and Balloon booth, Parish Mailing Volunteer, and DDF Co-Secretary, in doing so, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the St. Mary Altar Rosary Society. Sue loved being with her family and their activities.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, May 13, 2011 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory with a Wake Service at 1:30 PM.
Prayers will be said at 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at noon, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, officiated by the Rev. Gary Walters. Burial will be immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
