Stephen J. Distel

Stephen J. Distel, 73, of Tiffin, died at 4:38 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.  He was born October 18, 1947, in Tiffin, to Howard and Mary Ellen (Reinman) Distel. He married Jane Miletti September 27, 2002, in Tiffin and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Cory (Amy) Distel of Clyde; a daughter Cary (Michael) Ahten of Clyde; three step-daughters,  Kelly Kleinhenz of Dayton, Jaci (Kenny) McBride, Candace (Jerry) Jones both of Michigan two grandchildren, Audrey and Jenna Distel, five step-grandchildren, Madison, Mallory, and Conner Eastby, and Tayli and Mason McBride and two sisters, Marilyn ( Joe) Brown of Little Falls, Minn. and Elaine (Mark) Sendelbach of Tiffin, a sister-in-law, Kathy Distel of Naperville, Ill. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Keith Distel.

Stephen was a 1965 Calvert High School graduate.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1970.  He retired from ICP where he worked in the warehouse, and also had worked in sales at WTTF Radio.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Amvets Post #48.

There will be a private family visitation.  The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church 30 minutes prior to the Mass.  Burial will take place immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites performed by the Seneca County United Veterans Council at the gravesite.

Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T., St. Joseph Catholic Church, or to the Seneca County United Veterans Council.
