Sister Alice Louise Wechter, age 85, formerly known as Sister Sylvester Wechter, of the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. Francis Home.
Sister Alice Louise was born March 29, 1927 in New Washington to Sylvester and Marie (Kreim) Wechter.
Survivors include a brother, Sylvester Wechter of New Washington and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Franklin Wechter and a sister Mrs. Doris (Bruno) Caporini.
Sister Alice Louise through the years, her areas of ministry have been varied: teaching in primary grades at Carey, Fort Jennings, and New Cleveland, doing various types of domestic work at the motherhouse in Tiffin, being a minister of service. Sister Alice Louise served the community as a Minister of Prayer from 1999 until the time of her death. She enjoyed playing a variety of games such as UPWORDS, Checkers, and Skip-Bo. She also enjoyed painting. She said, “I find it relaxing and a way to be creative.”
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Francis Home Chapel and from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 both in St. Francis Convent Chapel. Saturday a Christian Wake Service will be at 10:30 a.m. in the convent chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the St. Francis Convent Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Francis Convent cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to St. Francis Convent or St. Francis Home.
