Sister Norbertine Loshe, 99, of the Sisters of St. Francis in Tiffin, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 6:45 pm at St. Francis Home. She was born October 3, 1915 to the late Henry F. Loshe and Mary Ida (Moeder) Loshe, of St. Anthony Parish, Padua, Ohio. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mildred Dues, and four brothers, Aloys, Werner, Rev. Norbert Loshe, CPPS, and Bernard Loshe.
Sister Norbertine Loshe, was from St. Anthony Parish in Ft. Recovery, Ohio. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Tiffin on August 12, 1936. On August 22, 1938, she professed her first vows, and on August 22, 1941 she professed her final vows. Sister Norbertine received her BA in Education from Mary Manse College, Toledo, OH in 1959. She served as principal at New Washington; and spent 31 years teaching in elementary schools at Landeck, Fort Jennings, Edgerton, Reed, New Washington, and St. Sebastian. While remaining in Fort Jennings, Sister Norbertine continued to use her classroom skills as the coordinator of Elementary Religious Education at St. Joseph’s Parish, Fort Jennings, Ohio. Later she served as a pastoral presence in that parish. From 1996 until the time of her death Sister Norbertine served as a Minister of Prayer for the congregation in Carthagena, Coldwater, and Tiffin.
Sister Norbertine was generally a quiet person; however, she could speak for hours about her family geneology. She delighted when in researching her own family history she would come upon a surprise relationship with a relative of one of the sisters. At the time of her 60th Anniversary as a Sister of St. Francis, Sister Norbertine expressed how grateful she was for the marvels that God has done and is doing in her life.
The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Convent Chapel.
Burial will be in St. Francis Convent cemetery.
Visitation will be: Friday, January 9, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in St. Francis Home Chapel 182 St. Francis Ave. Tiffin and from 2-8 p.m. in the Convent Chapel 200 St. Francis Ave. Tiffin; and on Saturday, January 20, 2015 from 9- 10:30 a.m. in the Convent Chapel.
A Christian Wake Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Convent Chapel.
