Sister Mary Cecilia Fisher, 94, of the Sisters of St. Francis in Tiffin, died Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 7:15 p.m. at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born June 7, 1913, in Defiance, Ohio, to Arthur C. and Theresa V. Fisher.
Surviving are three sisters: Gertrude “Trudy” Lenhart of Defiance, Ohio; Anabel “Penny” Krutch of Lapeer, MI; Madonna Blair of Yucca Valley, CA; and one brother, Leo “Bud” ( and wife Edie) Fisher of Tucson, AZ
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Colleta Fischer.
Sister Mary Cecilia, an excellent teacher, was known to her students as someone who enjoyed life, had order in her classroom, yet made learning fun. She always had a special love for animals. When she was able it was not unusual to see her go outside to pet Fiona, or Tiger.
Sister Mary Cecilia served as teacher in Landeck, Fort Jennings, Frenchtown, New Washington, Miller City, Reed, Bryan, Custar, St. Anthony Villa in Toledo, St. Teresa’s in Toledo, Carey, Bucyrus, Monrovia, CA, and Indio, CA. She served as a housekeeper in Blakeslee. She was the coordinator of the Media Center at the motherhouse. At the time of her death she was a Minister of Prayer for the congregation.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Art Niewiadomski at 10 am Friday, September 28, 2007, in the St. Francis Convent Chapel, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, Ohio 44883. Burial will be in St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Thursday, with a Christian Wake Service at 7 pm, at the chapel.
Memorials can be made to St. Francis Convent or St. Francis Home.
