Sister Gertrude Morman, age 83, of Sisters of St. Francis in Tiffin, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 12:12 pm, in St. Francis Convent Infirmary. She was born on May 8, 1923 in Leipsic, Ohio to Gertrude (Schmenk) and Joseph Morman.
Surviving are two brothers, Joseph Morman of Marion, Ohio; and Vincent Morman of Mansfield, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters, Mae Recker and Tiffin Franciscans, Sister Anita; Sister Jovita and Sister Damien Morman; four brothers, Adolph Morman, Rev. Edmund Morman, SVD; Rev. Richard Morman and Rev. Wilbert Morman, SVD.
Sister Gertrude served as a housekeeper and/or organist at Frenchtown, Blakeslee, North Auburn, Reed, New Washington, Bucyrus, Millersville, Peru, St. Michael’s Ridge; as LPN at St. Francis Home, Tiffin and Monroe Michigan, and as a receptionist in Tiffin. At the time of her death she was a Minister of Prayer, and Service in the congregation.
Sister Gertrude has been a spiritual dynamo in the Tiffin area where she had many friends. She will always be remembered as a fun-loving person, ready with jokes and humorous tales to tell everyone.
The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 11, 2006 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Friday, November 10, 2006 at St. Francis Convent Chapel. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7 pm Friday at the chapel.
