Sister Anna Marie Mangette

Sister Anna Marie Mangette, 82, of the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, died at 1:20 pm Friday, January 26, 2018, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

She was born November 23, 1935, in Tiffin, to Charles Leander and Lorine Josephine  (Collett) Mangette.

Surviving are her four brothers, Francis, James, Dan, and Tom Mangette, and her sister, Mary Loudenback.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sister Anna Marie earned her Masters of Education Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo.  She was an elementary school teacher from 1957-1977. During that time she taught at the following schools in Ohio: Fort Jennings, New Washington, Payne, Landeck, Reed, St. Sebastian, and New Cleveland. She served as both teacher and principal in Waynesville, North Carolina, and as teacher in Alamo, Texas. Her teaching experiences prepared her well as she moved into parish ministry where she served the people in Welaco, Progresso, and Mercedes, all in Texas. For two years she served as the program manager for an AIDS Care facility located in McAllen, Texas. From 1999 until 2013, Sister Anna Marie lived and worked among the people in Chiapas, Mexico. In her most recent years she served as a teacher’s aide at Bridges Academy, Tiffin, and volunteered her sewing skills at St. Francis Home. At the time of her death she was a Praying Member of the community.

Sister Anna Marie loved the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Indian Lake, hiking the Appalachian Trails in the Smoky Mountains, and meandering through various parks. When indoors, she enjoyed reading, playing games, and visiting with family.

Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 pm Sunday, January 28, 2018, at St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, and then 2:30-7 pm Sunday, with a Wake Service at 4 pm, at St. Francis Convent Chapel, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.

Visitation will also be held Monday, January 29, 2018, from 9 am until time of the funeral Mass at 10:30 am, at the Convent Chapel.  Rev. Frank Murd will officiate, and burial will follow in the St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
