Sally W. Hommerding, age 94, of Tiffin and formerly of Lima and Clearwater, Florida, died at 7:20 am, Thursday, July 19, 2007, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born February 2, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Maurice and Fanny (Stohl) Wilten. She married Vernon D. Hommerding in Waukegan, Illinois, on February 18, 1933, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1988.
Survivors include a son, Richard V., and his wife, Elisabeth Jean, of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Mark R. (Katherine) Hommerding of West Des Moines, IA; Karen A. (Paul) Hillen of Plymouth, MN; and Ellen J. Hommerding of Cincinnati, OH; and six great grandchildren, Jane Hommerding and Vaughn Hommerding of West Des Moines, IA; and Paul Hillen, Jr., Annie Hillen, Jack Hillen, and Clare Hillen of Plymouth, MN.
Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband were three brothers, Bernard, Harry and George Wilten, and three sisters, Mary Brooks, Rose Jacobs and Sarah Goldman.
Mrs. Hommerding was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago, Illinois. She had retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima, Ohio in 1970 as a secretary in the Labor Relations Department. She spent the next 22 years in the Clearwater, FL area before coming to Tiffin, where she had been a resident since 1993. She was an avid reader.
A special celebration of her life will be held by the family at a later date.
