Ruth E. Cramer Mitten, 93, formerly of 134 Gross Street, Tiffin, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003, in Birchaven Nursing Home, Findlay.
She was born August 11, 1910, in New Riegel, Ohio, to the late Edward and Ida (Gase) Werley. She married Frederick A. Cramer in 1937. He died on February 5, 1962. Then she married Kenneth Mitten on December 26, 1970. He died on October 8, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Richard L. (Karen) Cramer, of Tiffin; four daughters, Judy (Harry) Gustafson, of Venice, Florida, Jean Riedel, of Orlando, Florida, Janet Mary (Dewayne) Krout, of Findlay, and Kathleen (David) Reinhart, of Tiffin; two step daughters, Kay (Roy) Vanbeveren, of Tiffin, and Janice (Bob) Fruth, of Lexington, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and four step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick J. Cramer, Jr. on December 19, 1959; a granddaughter, Debra L. Bozarth; a brother, Arthur Werley; two sisters, Alma Hagenmaier and Harriet Freeman; and a step son, Robert Mitten.
Mrs. Mitten, a graduate of St. Mary’s Calvert High School and Bowling Green State University, was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at St. Mary’s, St. Joseph, Noble, and Krout Schools.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice, Florida, where she had lived for 23 years and the Ohio Retired Teacher’s Association.
The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in care of the funeral home.
