She was born in Tiffin, to the late Frank and Clara (Long) Souders, February 4, 1916.
She married Arthur J. Scherger October 3, 1936 in New Port, Ky. He died September 9, 1985.
Other survivors include a son, Joseph A. (Rita) Scherger of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Cynthia Schalk, Daniel (Pam) Scherger, Jeffrey (Dana) Scherger, Karen (Mark) Pardi; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheri Diane Scherger, 3 brothers, George, Richard and Paul Souders; 4 sisters, Madeline McCarthy, Belva McElheny, Frances Kuhn and Verna Mae Souder.
Ruth was a 1934 Columbian High School graduate. She was a homemaker, a member St. Mary Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Home Auxiliary, Columbian Alumni Association, Eagles Auxiliary and the Allen Eiry Senior Center.
Visitation with the family will be 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 10:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Gary Walters. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
