Rodney Lee “Rod” Berlekamp, 83, of Tiffin, died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born August 30, 1932, in Green Springs, to Eugene and Marie (Haudenshild) Berlekamp. He married Kathryn Anway April 18, 1953, in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Brenda (Gary) Ehrenfried of Tiffin; two sons, Douglas R. (Jeanne) Berlekamp of North Royalton, and Jack (Gwen) Berlekamp of Powell; eight grandchildren, Charlie (Kory) Ehrenfried, Julie (Rick) Ekleberry, Laurie (Joe) Rosales, David (Nicole) Berlekamp, Michael (Amanda) Berlekamp, Thomas Berlekamp, Anna Berlekamp, and Benjamin Berlekamp; five great grandchildren, Tucker, Ellie, Collin, Mason, and Cailyn; and a brother, Rolland Berlekamp of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Berlekamp was a 1950 graduate of Old Fort High School, served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and earned a Bachelors Degree in 1960 from The Ohio State University. He retired as an industrial salesman. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed boating, his motorhome, and anything and everything Ohio State.
Private services were held, and his body was donated to The Ohio State University Department of Anatomy. Burial will be at a later date at Fairwell-Retreat Cemetery, Republic.
