Robert M. Ardner, age 91, of N. SR 101, Tiffin, died at 5:30 pm Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born April 14, 1917, in Amsden, to the late Edward and Rose (Yost) Ardner. On November 28, 1940, in St. Mary Catholic Church, he married Eileen R. Miletti, who died February 20, 2004,
Survivors include three sons, Mike (Rose Ann), Tom (Margo), and Steve Ardner, all of Tiffin; three daughters, Rose Ann (Dallas) Hade of Tiffin, Jean (Robert) Flechtner of FL, and Laura Kirchner of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gilbert Ardner of Tiffin, and Lester Ardner of Sandusky; two sisters, Viola Ardner of Tiffin, and Loretta (Louis) Mohr of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Ardner; three sisters, Margaret Brandt, Emma Ardner and Louella Ardner; and a grandson, Rob Flechtner.
Bob retired in 1982 after 30 years as a molder at Tiffin Brass and Bronze. Prior to that, he worked at Tiffin Foundry and Fostoria Foundry. He was also the owner of Wagon Wheel Antiques. Bob was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was also a life member of the Moose Lodge. Bob loved gardening with vegetables and flowers and working in his workshop. Bob was a self-taught master carpenter.
Friends may call Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 2-5 p.m. at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be said 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
