Robert Eugene Daniel, Sr., 90, of St. Francis Home and formerly of Hopewell Avenue, Tiffin, died at 1:42 pm Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin.
He was born December 31, 1916, in Tiffin to the late Vern and Clara (Homan) Daniel. On August 8, 1942, Mr. Daniel married Ruth E. Rahrig in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and she died on January 3, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. Daniel, Jr. of Rochester, New York; two daughters, Sister Carol S. Daniel, OSF of Springfield, Illinois and Elaine M. Daniel of Reno, Nevada; three grandchildren, Therese Tomanovich, Jackie Daniel, and Tia Lum; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Daniel of San Diego, California, and Rita Ritch of Bellaire Bluffs, Florida.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Daniel.
Mr. Daniel graduated from Calvert High School in 1934 and attended Heidelberg College. He also served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Daniel retired from the National Machinery Company in 1978 after 26 years in the Shipping and Receiving department. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin.
The funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am on Monday, March 5, 2007 at St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Avenue, Tiffin with the Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 3-5pm at the Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin 44883, (419) 447-3113. Friends may also call one hour prior to the Mass at the chapel on Monday.
