Rita M. Smith, age 76, of Republic, Ohio, died November 27, 2002. She was born in Alvada, Ohio, on April 2, 1926, to Michael and Emma (Hammer) Frankart. On February 7, 1948, in Alvada, Ohio, she married Victor Smith, who survives. Also surviving are 5 sons, Michael(Mary)Smith, Victor(Jean)Smith, Jr., Gerry Smith, Kevin(Roxanne)Smith, and Steven(Leslie)Smith; a daughter, Mary(Daniel)Reimer; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Frankart; and 2 sisters, Christina LaFountaine and Corrine(Paul)Williams. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph Smith, 2 brothers, Francis & Alfred Frankart, and a sister, Mary Williams. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Republic, Ohio, and its Rosary Altar Society and Prayer Group. She was also a member of the Seneca County Farm Womens Club and the Senior Citizens of Republic Share and Care. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Home, Tiffin, or St. Aloysius Church, Republic, in care of the funeral home.
