Richard Otto Gase, 62, of Tiffin, died on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 6:00am at his residence.

He was born on January 18, 1946 in Tiffin to the late Armand W. and Frances I. (Hoepf) Gase. On September 11, 1965 in St. Mary’s Church in Tiffin, he married Mary Lou Seislove and she survives.

Other survivors include son Matthew Gase; daughters Kimberly (Daniel) Burns and Justine (Rodney) Culver, all of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Trey Gase, Jessie Ann Gase, Travis Gase, Adam Burns, Jaron Burns, and Sydnie Culver; five brothers, Edgar (Joan) Gase of Pipe Creek, Texas, Charles (Beverly) Gase of Oregon, Ohio, Kenneth (Janet) Gase of Haines City, Florida, Lester Gase of Tiffin, and Leon (Lynn) Gase of Ostrander, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.

Mr. Gase was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Loren Kay Gase.

Richard graduated in 1964 from Calvert High School and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 being stationed at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. He graduated from Tiffin University in 1977 with an Associate of Business Technology degree. Mr. Gase was employed for 38 years at the Toledo Blade as a pressman and retired from there in 2006.

He was a member of the American Legion and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiffin. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, working puzzles, and camping.

The Rosary will be recited at 10:45am Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Ferris officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Traunero Funeral Home 214 S. Monroe Street Tiffin, Ohio 44883 419-447-3113. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 3:45pm at the funeral home. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at 7:45pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
