RICHARD D. KIN

Richard D. Kin, 92, formerly of TR 122, Tiffin, went to be with the Lord at 12:28 am Monday, May 28, 2012, (the anniversary of his wife’s birth) at Elmwood at the Shawhan.

He was born May 23, 1920, in Salem Twp, Wyandot County, to Leo J. and Mary J. (Mitten) Kin.  He married Rita V. Kromer, August 30, 1941 at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey.  She passed away February 6, 2010.

Survivors include a son, Don (Jean) Kin of Tiffin; two daughters, Carol (Dan) Praklet and Kathleen Kin  both of Elkhart, Ind; six grandchildren, , David Kin, Christine Rand, Steve Rickey, Lori Hembree and Kori & Kurtis Kin-Reichert; ten great grandchildren, Anna, Jacob, Samuel, & Emma Kin, Ethan & Elijah Rand, Kyle & Travis Hembree, and Nathan & Collin Rickey; two great great grandchildren, Madox & Hudson Hembree; two brothers, Thomas Kin of Carey, and Justin Kin of Forest, ; and two sisters, Joyce Derr of Carey,  and Joan Willman of Attica.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence “Larry” Kin, a grandson, Scott Rickey and a brother, Bernard “Pete” Kin.

Mr. Kin was a 1938 Upper Sandusky High School graduate.  He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, and retired in 1980 after 39 years as a machinist at National Machinery Company.   He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed farming, square dancing, fishing at his winter home in Naples, Fla., and traveling with Rita.

Visitation with family will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.  Prayers will be said at 12:30p.m. at the funeral home followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 p.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools in care of the funeral home.
