Raymond D. "Buzz" Cooley of 1 Teakwood Court,age 73, of Tiffin, Ohio, died July 28, 2002 at his residence. He was born on July 27, 1929 to Raymond and Fannie (Day) Cooley. He married Evelyn Schock on January 24, 1953 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
Other survivors include 1 son, Dean (Frieda) Cooley of Tiffin, 4 daughters, Debra (Rudolph) Reddish, Deanna (Gary) White, Denise (Brad) arnold and Danette Kopp all of Tiffin. 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Mary (Bill) Brigman of Bowling Green, Ohio. He was preceded by 1 son, Michael Cooley, 2 brothers, Charles and Donald Cooley, and 2 sisters, Alice Jean and Beverly Mae Cooley.
Mr. Cooley served in the United States Army from 1948-1952. He served in Japan during the Korean Conflict in 1950-1951. He was a member of the 19th Regiment, 24th Division. He was wounded in 1950 and received the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. He also served in Germany.
Mr Cooley had retired from National Machinery Company. He had also been a police officer for the City of Tiffin, he worked at the Seneca County Sheriff's Department and worked at the Upland Police Department in California. Mr. Cooley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW Post 2858, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion Post 169, he volunteered for the Clinton Twp. Fire Department and he served on the Commission for Seneca County Veterans Services.
Burial will be private with military services conducted by the United Veterans Council on Thursday, August, 1, 2002. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Foundation and Community Hospice Care.
