Prudence Van Slyke Yochem Hering, age 77, of St. Francis Avenue, died at 2:05 am Friday, February 29, 2008 in Tiffin.
She was born on July 11, 1930 to the late Louis P. and Margery (Ballentine) Yochem. On February 16, 1952 in Tiffin, she married Charles D. “Bud” Hering, Jr. He died on January 14, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Charles Daniel (Charleen) Hering, III of Bellevue, Washington; two daughters, Anne (Dr. Andrew) Gase and Susan (Brent) Hering Howard both of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, Colin Daniel Hering, Riley Hering, Sarah Gase, Allison Gase, Alexander Gase, Grant Gase, Andrew Howard, Samuel Howard and Natalie Howard; and a sister-in-law Barbara Yochem of Upper Sandusky.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Louis P. Yochem, Jr.
Prudy was graduated from Columbian High School in 1948 and from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1952. She was a homemaker, a member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, a Vestry member of the church. She was a former Chairwoman of the Betty Jane Center, a member of the Penthouse Club, a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Private family services will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, with a reception at Old Trinity Episcopal Church at 4:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2008. There will be no visitation.
