Phyllis Armena (Houck) Bentz

Phyllis Armena (Houck) Bentz, 75, of Tiffin, died at 8:05 am Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

Phyllis was born November 1, 1943, in Tiffin to Philbert A. and Mary Louise (Boner) Houck. She married Gerald Bentz, they later divorced and he is deceased.

Survivors include her son and best friend, Richard “Dick” Bentz of Tiffin; three brothers, Jack (Evelyn) Houck of Tiffin, James (Elaine) Houck of Steamboat, Colorado, Joseph (Linda) Houck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five nieces, Aspen Houck of Florida, Suzanne Betz of Michigan, Anne Ratterman of Marion, Ohio, Micky Distel of Tiffin, Becky Hassinger of Tiffin; a nephew, Mike Houck of Maumee; and special friend, Bob Weimerskirch of Tiffin.

Phyllis was a 1961 graduate of Calvert Catholic High School. She retired in 1999, after 33 years of service at the Tiffin Developmental Center.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed spending time with fellow former employees of the center and was in a card club with special friends that have been getting together since high school graduation. Phyllis’s special interests were swimming, music, and crocheting gifts for her many friends and relatives.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2 to 4 pm, and 5 to 7 pm, Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113.

Funeral will be at 10 am, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Eagles immediately following the service.  A private burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
