Paul K. West, age 75 years, formerly of Tiffin, Ohio and Port Clinton, Ohio died at 8:25 A.M. Sunday, July 14, 2002 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born to Donald A. and Bernetta (Kieffer) West on April 28, 1927 in Tiffin, Ohio. He married Phyllis J. Distel on December 27, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. She died on October 29, 1997. Other survivors include his 4 children, Kathryn (Harold)Breyman of Tiffin; James A. (Donna) West of Clyde, Ohio; Paulette (Joseph) Robenalt of Tiffin, and Kenneth P. (Teresa) West of Tiffin, 1 brother, Robert West of Bettsville, and 6 grandchildren. He is preceaded by 3 brothers, Donald, George, and Howard West, 1 sister Vivan Frey; 1 granddaughter, Rebecca Robenalt and 3 great grandchildren, William, Grace and Kathrine Zamora.
Mr. West was a 1945 Columbian High School graduate. He was in the U.S. Navy Seabees during WWII. He had served in the Marshall Islands as a shipfitter third class. He received the Victory ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon. He had retired in 1985 after 38 years as a caster at American Standard Company.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.
There will be a parish wake service at the funeral home at 3:45 on Tuesday, and the Rosary will be recited at 9:45 A.M. at the church on Wednesday. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Assocation of Seneca County or to the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.
Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military rites by the United Veterans Council.
