Paul E. Digby, Sr., age 86, of N. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 8:15 pm, Saturday, September 30, 2006, at his residence.
He was born September 11, 1920, in Tiffin, to the late Charles and Bessie (Landis) Digby. In 1956, he married Norma Jean Norris, and she died in July of 1994.
He is survived by a two sons, Paul Digby, Jr., of Georgia, and Terry (Kathy) Slagle of Tiffin; three daughters, Susan (Richard) Schore of Tiffin, Sandra (James) McGowan and Mary Cripps, both of Santa Ana, California; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Gary and David Slagle, and Jim Roberts; two sisters, Alma Seery and Gladys Digby; five brothers, Harry Tarlton, and Robert, Charles, Earl, and Mearl Digby; and a great granddaughter, Isabel Slagle.
Mr. Digby came back to Tiffin from California in 1986, after retiring as an inspector of air cleaners at Farr Company in California. He was a Tech Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a P.O.W. in Germany for six months. He was a member of the RAF Burtonwood Association.
Services will be noon Wednesday, October 4, 2006, in Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113, with Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council. Friends may call Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at the funeral home.
