Norman F. Benner, age 80, of Maple Street Tiffin, Ohio, died at 10:31 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin. He was born on March 17, 1926 in Tiffin to the late Jerome and Agnes (Smith) Benner. On September15, 1952 in Angola, IN. He married Annabel J. Foght and she survives.
Other survivors include 1 son, Dick (Janell) Benner of New Washington, Ohio; 1 daughter, Patsy “Bud” (Jeff) Hill of Tiffin; 3 grandchildren, Nikki (John) Luman of Melmore, Ohio; Joni (Tim) Johnson of Coshocton, Ohio; Heidi (Anthony) Ramirez of Tiffin; 4 Step Great grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild on the way; 2 brothers, Alfred (Hazel) Benner of Tiffin; Gerald Benner of Covington, KY; 3 sisters, Aline Mayer of Oregon, OH; Martha Alspach of Tiffin; Peggy (Richard) Sartor of MI. He is survived also by his 2 Yorkies, Holly and Berry.
He is preceded in death by 1 brother, Howard Benner; and 2 sisters, Bernetta Kemp and Mildred Piechocki.
Mr. Benner was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, Tiffin. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He had retired in 1993 from American Standard after being employed there for 21 years.
He loved his chocolate and ice cream and enjoyed walking Holly and Berry all over town. His favorite clothes were t-shirts and jeans. Mr. Benner’s greatest accomplishment was the building of his house, rural Tiffin.
The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Washington Street United Methodist Church, Tiffin officiated by Rev. Greg Sellers. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 31 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Burial will take place in Fairmont Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County, the Mohawk School Bus Garage Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
