Norman Twining, 83, of Tiffin, died at 3:50 a.m. Wed. Feb. 10, 2016, at his residence. He was born Apr. 29, 1932, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, to Carl and Beatrice (Haner) Twining. He married Theda Fetters, May 27, 1951 and they later divorced. He then married Kathleen M. Kerkhoff, Oct. 10, 1978, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Denise M. Twining of RI, Cheryl L. (Eric) Cramer of Tiffin; a step-daughter, Christine D. Waters (Craig) Pattee of Columbus; a step-son, Bruce D. (Margie) Waters of Tiffin; a grandson, Austin K. Cramer of Tiffin; a step-grandson, Dustin W. Waters of Tiffin; and a half-brother, Carl Twining, Jr. of WI
He is preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Ed Robenalt; and two half-sisters, Rhea and Norma.
Norman was a 1950 Findlay High School graduate. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 in Washington D. C. and abroad on the U.S.S. William R. Rush with the D.D.R. 714 Radar Picket ship, as a boiler tender in the Mediterranean. He was employed by Ohio Bell Telephone from 1955 until he retired in 1992 after 37 ½ years of service.
He was a member of the A.T. & T. Pioneers and the Ohio Bell retirees coffee club.
Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. – noon, Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Funeral services will follow at noon, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating at the funeral home. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform military services at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assn., the American Heart Assn. or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
