Norman V. Tackett, 80, of Tiffin, Ohio died 5:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital. He was born July 29, 1934, in Olive Hill, Ky. to John and Ina Mae (Bradley) Tackett.
He married Jeanne Marie Behlen, Nov. 4, 1954, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She died March 17, 2010.
Survivors include, two sons, N. Scott (Kathy) Tackett of Canfield, Oh., Gregory Tackett, of Clarington, Oh.; three daughters, Michelle (Chris) Casale of Tiffin, Lynette (Steve) Cristol and Mary Frances Gibbons both of Warren, Mass.; four grandchildren, Nicole (Rick), Bryan (Jenn), Megan, and Michael; two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Layla; a brother Donald Tackett, of Olive Hill, Ky.
He is preceded in death by seven brothers, and a sister.
Norman was a graduate of Olive Hill, Ky. High School. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Brownson during the Korean War from 1952-1955 as a stock clerk. He retired as a crane operator in Warren, Oh. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic church. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at the funeral home followed by the Mass at noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Kishore Kottana.
Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the grave site.
