Norbert Joseph Brickner, age 90, of rural Fostoria, died at 2:45 am, passed peacefully to eternal life on Friday, December 1, 2006, at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria. He was surrounded by his family. Mr. Brickner was born January 18, 1916 in Fostoria, to the late William M. and Adeline (Koerper) Brickner. On August 31, 1946, in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania, he married Mary C. Hartman and she survives in rural Fostoria.

Surviving children are a son, David J. (Pamela) Brickner of Fostoria; four daughters, Marsha A. Brickner of Northwood; Lynette M. Schreiner, of Findlay; Cheryl E. (Dennis) Kenna of Tiffin; and Marlene M. (Mark) Nye of Fostoria; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Midge) Brickner of Tiffin; and Vincent (Clara) Brickner of Fostoria; and a sister, Margaret Smith of Bellevue.

Mr. Brickner was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Francis Brickner, a brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Brickner, and a sister, Imelda (Jerry) Scherger.

Mr. Brickner was a lifelong resident in the Bascom/Fostoria community and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Liberty Twp., where he served as a lector, choir member, greeter, and Holy Name Society member. He retired after 60 plus years of livestock and agricultural farming in 1998. Mr. Brickner was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying trips to Lake Erie and fishing with friends and family. He also enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing cards, hunting, traveling, family gatherings, and numerous social events in the community.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December, 5, 2006 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church on SR 635, with the Rev. Arthur Niewiadomski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, December 4, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:45 pm Monday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited in church fifteen minutes prior to Mass.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to St. Andrew’s Parish, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Assn of Northwest Ohio, Community Hospice Care or the donor’s choice, in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
