Nina M. Thomas, age 91, of Tiffin, Ohio died at 1:50 am, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in the Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born on May 19, 1917 to the late Albert J. and Mabel M. (Hoy) Hughes. On June 18, 1938 in Seneca County, Ohio she married Alvin R. Thomas, Sr. He died on January 21, 2003.
Survivors include, two sons, Alvin R. (Cathy) Thomas, Jr. of Tiffin; Larry E. Thomas, of Orlando, Florida; a daughter, Patricia A. (Patt) Thomas of Tiffin; a grandson, Allen Thomas; a great granddaughter Noelle; three brothers, Robert Hughes of Republic; Harold Hughes of Cocoa, Florida, and Raymond Hughes of Maitland, Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Arlington, Ohio and Rosella Hawkins of Warsaw, Indiana.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Wilbur and Frank Hughes, and a sister, Belva Smith.
Nina was a 1935 Columbian High School graduate. She had retired in 1984 after 32 1/2 years of working for J.C. Penney as a merchandising assistant. She was a member of the Hopewell Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher and Deaconess. She was a member of the Faithful Few Sunday School Class. She enjoyed walking, shopping, cooking, gardening, growing flowers and spending time with her family.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Hopewell Church of God with Pastor Terry Steinhauer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends and Family may visit from 6-8 pm Friday, June 13, 2008 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the services Saturday, at the church.
