Nevin Earl Ballreich Martin, age 53 of Sycamore Street, Tiffin, died early morning on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in Dayton, Ohio in an airplane accident.
He was born in Tiffin on March 21, 1951 to Nevin and Martha (Tracey) Ballreich. His father died at an early age and his mother married Paul Martin, who along with Martha raised Nevin. His mother survives in Tiffin. On July 5, 1985 in Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin, he married Joan Lonsway. She survives.
Other survivors include 1 son, Nevin E. Martin of Tiffin; 3 daughters, Megan Martin of Tiffin, Mollie Martin and Lydia Martin both at home; Parents-In-Law, Tom and Mary Ann Lonsway, Tiffin; 1 sister, Lisa Shannon of Columbus, Ohio; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Lonsway and Mr. & Mrs. Dan (Teresa) Hartman, all of Tiffin, a brother-in-law, Thomas (Anne) Lonsway of Rome, New York, several nieces and nephews and a close friend, Dr. S. P. Lowry of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by his father Nevin Ballreich and his adopted father, Paul Martin. He is also preceded by a brother Jay Martin.
Mr. Martin was a 1969 Columbian High School graduate. He was a Pilot and Flight Instructor at Tiffin Aire, and also the former owner of Martin Brothers Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin; a board member of Greenlawn Cemetery and Tiffin Historic Trust. He was a member of Tiffin Boy Rangers, the Elks Lodge, the Cotillion Club, Mohawk Country Club, and the National Machinery Foundation. He was active in Historic Preservation and loved antiques. He had a great love for his community and was passionate about flying.
Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch will officiate the services. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial may be made to the Tiffin Historic Trust, Greenlawn Cemetery, Trinity U.C.C. or to a charity of the donor's choice.
