Sister M. Kathleen Thielen, age 86, of the Sisters of St. Francis in Tiffin, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at St. Francis Home.
She was born February 13, 1920 in Custar, Ohio to Gertrude (Johann) and Henry Thielen.
Surviving are her sister, Rita Rasey of Maumee and her sister-in-law, Alma Thielen of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Francis and James; and her sister Helen Promensceunkel.
She served as housekeeper in Reed, Bismark, Carey, Landeck and Tiffin; kindergarten teacher in Waynesville, North Carolina; in child care at St. Francis Villa, Toledo; in care of the elderly at St. Francis Home, Tiffin; and in pastoral ministry in Paducah, Kentucky. At the time of her death she was a minister of prayer for the congregation.
Sister was fond of pets, especially cats. She spoke of patients and children as “precious in the eyes of God.”
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Francis Convent Chapel, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, Ohio 44883. Burial will be in St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 2-8 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel.
