Mary Ellen Boner, 99, of Tiffin, died at 3:47 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Tiffin to the late Charles Edward and Hazel Belle (Michaels) Homan, April 3, 1913. On December 19, 1931, at St. Mary Catholic Church, she was married to Clarence C. Boner. He died May 15, 1993.
Other survivors include two sons, Eugene Boner of Tiffin, Ronald C. (Karen) Boner of Findlay; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Burns of Sarasota, Fla.; a son-in-law, Victor Wurm of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; two brothers, James (Alice) Homan of Tiffin and Bobby Homan of Yakima, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Crist) Homan, of Tiffin.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Wurm; two brothers, Earl and Merle Homan; and three sisters, Ruth Fisher, Alice Pfeiffer, and Jean Pfeiffer.
Mary Ellen was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Allen Eiry Senior Citizens, the Rosary Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She was known as an excellent seamstress.
Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be 4:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 18, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 11 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Gary Walters. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
