Martha Louise "Muxie" Bridinger Hartman, Daddy’s Girl, 78, of Tiffin, died at 10:57 am Saturday, May 16, 2020, at her residence.
She was born October 30, 1941, in Tiffin, to Chalmor and Madeline (Werling) Bridinger. She married William Hartman in Cincinnati in 1967, and he died December 24, 2014.
Survivors include a son, William Eric Hartman (Vicky) of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Ellyn Swaney (Wes) of Westerville; grandchildren, Miranda, Nadia, Luke, and Jack Swaney; and three brothers, Michael Bridinger, Thomas Bridinger, and Richard (Roberta) Bridinger, all of Tiffin.
She was also preceded in death by her dad, Chalmor, her mom, Madeline, a brother, Dennis Bridinger, and two feline friends, Ruppert and Perky.
Martha graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1959. She worked at Arlan’s Department Store, Good’s Books, and Mercy Hospital in the early 1960s. She moved to Cincinnati in the middle 60s, driving her beloved Karman Gia convertible. She worked at Hudepohl Brewery in Cincinnati. She then married William Hartman.
Martha was a devoted and disciplinary mom. Her children attended Catholic schools in Pittsburgh and Columbus. Both graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus. Her love of her life was her antiquing as a collector and dealer. In Powell, Ohio, she even sold to Whoopi Goldberg.
While living in Pittsburgh, she developed a love of the Steelers (Bradshaw, Harris, Lambert, Swann), and she loved “terrible towel” waving. Sorry, Browns fans!
Martha’s parting wish was to devote time to the Blessed Mother, and pray for loving families. She especially requested support for anxiety and depression causes.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Catholic Church, at 10:30 am July 11, 2020 (Dad’s birthday). As Dad would say, “Keep your nose clean.”
Arrangements are under the direction of the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church, Nationwide Childrens Hospital for Mental Health, any Catholic/Religion based mental health charity, Heartland Hospice, whose angels took wonderful care of Muxie, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
