Martha ( Marty) Martin, age 83, formerly of 185 Sycamore Street, Tiffin, Ohio died at 9:20 P.M. Thursday, April 7, 2005 in St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She was born on August, 19, 1921 in Bellevue, Ohio to Perry and Florence (Headings) Tracey, they do not survive. In 1949, in Tiffin she married Nevin E. Ballreich. He died on August 19, 1950. In 1952, in Tiffin, she married Paul Martin. He died October 27, 1990.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Lisa (David) Shannon of Orient, Ohio; Marty was so proud of, loved and adored her 9 grandchildren, Megan Martin, Tracey Schultz, Nevin Martin, Mollie Martin, Jay Schultz, Sarah Shannon, Lydia Martin, Libby Shannon, and Austin Schultz; 1 daughter-in-law, Joan Martin of Tiffin; 1 son-in-law, Allen Schultz of Tiffin. She is also survived by many friends and relative, and the family of nurses, caretakers, residents and staff at St. Francis Home.
Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by her two husbands, Nevin Ballreich and Paul Martin, 1 daughter-in-law, Ann Schultz, and two sons, Jay Martin and Nevin Martin.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Carey High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Heidelberg College, Tiffin and also a B.A. in business from Tiffin University. She was a retired teacher from Noble Elementary School, Tiffin. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a member of the Eastern Star. She had the gift of teaching and loved people. She loved the lake, reading, and having lunch with friends. She had a beautiful singing voice; May she sing with the Angels and the Lord. She always gave good advice. “Count your life by the smiles, not tears; Count your age by friends, not years.” She was a friend and brought nothing but inspiration and hope to everyone.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch. Burial will take place immediately following the Funeral Service in Greenlawn Cemetery.
