Marguerite “Muggs” Frase, 80 years old, formerly of 84 Prospect Street, Tiffin, died at 7:24 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2004, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin. She was born March 8, 1923, in Seneca County, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Mary (Flanders) Sherman. Her husband, Marion Frase, whom she married July 3, 1943, in Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael (Lunette) Frase, of New Riegel; a daughter, Mindy (George) Ford, of Tiffin; 6 grandchildren, Betsy, Allison, Mitchell, Molly, Martin, and Matthew Frase; 2 step grandchildren, Elizabeth Martini and Geneva Sheets; 5 step great grandchildren, Jennifer and Brendan Sheets, Lindsey, Jack and Vincent Martini; a brother, Eldon Sherman, of Tiffin; and 2 sisters, Helen (Robert) Dildine, of Tiffin, and Lucinda (Dale) Wilkinson, of Waynesboro, Georgia.
2 brothers, Eldridge and Dwight Sherman; a sister, Alice Williams, and 2 grandchildren, Jamie and Jeremy Frase, are also deceased.
Mrs. Frase, a 1941 graduate of Republic High School, was a former switchboard operator and office clerk at Ohio Bell Telephone Company. She also worked at numerous department stores downtown. She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and Circle groups; director of many Vacation Bible Schools; superintendent of Sunday school; president and vice president of Mansfield District United Methodist Women; former board member of the East Ohio Conference of United Methodist Women; director of the Mansfield District Lay Speakers Association; and member of the Progressive Mothers. She was named “Mother of the Year” in 1958 by her church and was a member of numerous other ladies groups.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Washington Street United Methodist Church in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
