Margaret Mary Elchert, 90, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully at 12:32 a.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Bluebird Retirement Community, Marysville.

She was born August 23, 1934, in Tiffin, to John J. and Mary C. (Fredritz) Loesser. She married Robert E. Elchert August 27, 1955, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Robert died December 20, 2005.

Survivors include three sons, Nicholas (Kathy) Elchert of Port Clinton, Stephen (Carrie) Elchert, and Gregory (Carrie) Elchert both of Tiffin; two daughters, Karen Elchert, and Brenda (Brian) Kocak both of Dublin; 8 grandchildren, Heather Hess, Jessica Szymanowski, Lindsey Johnson and Holly Harner, Brian Kocak, Jr., Bethany Kocak Heinze, Tracy Elchert, and Madison Elchert; 11 great-grandchildren, and three brothers, David (Anna) Loesser of Sterling Heights, Mich., Thomas (Rita) Loesser of Port Clinton, and William (Cris) Loesser of Charlotte, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, Arthur, Edwin, Paul, and James Loesser; and a sister, Ann Kummerer. 

Mrs. Elchert was a 1952 graduate of Calvert High School she then became an X-ray technician at Mercy Hospital. She met the love of her life, Robert while performing in one-act plays at St. Joseph’s Auditorium. She and Robert were married for 50 years. After raising her five children, Margaret went to work for Sears Roebuck in Tiffin, working in different departments, she ended up as the attendant for the automotive department and was given the nickname of Mrs. Goodwrench where she retired in 1993. She was a devoted life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Margaret and Robert loved to travel and spend time at their place on the shores of Lake Erie outside of Port Clinton and enjoyed boating, fishing, entertaining, and relaxing in the sun of their deck overlooking the lake. They also bowled in the couple’s league at the Tiffin Knights of Columbus. After Robert died, Margaret enjoyed coloring and painting. She was an Elvis Presley and Tom Jones fan and saw both in concert. She was a collector of Emmitt Kelly, Jr.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Anthony Coci. The Rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
