Louis Joseph Tiell, age 84, of Littleton, Colorado, formerly of Tiffin and Fremont, died Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Gardens of Columbine, Littleton.
He was born December 30, 1925, in Tiffin, to the late Clarence and Olga (Houck) Tiell. He married Margaret Luverne Rhoda September 2, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. She survives in Littleton.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian (Jennifer) Tiell of Littleton, Colo., and Scott (Lori) Tiell of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Vanessa, Sarah, Rebecca, Abbey, Emma, Chloe, Korey, and Ava Tiell; and a brother, Howard Tiell of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard, Frederick, and Thomas Tiell, and three sisters, Dorothy Kopp, Margaret Gaietto, and Anna Lou Scholl.
Mr. Tiell retired from the retail lumber industry and was a carpenter. He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Littleton and had been a member of St. Ann’s Parish in Fremont. He was also a two-term president of both the Fremont Kiwanis Club and the Toledo Unit of the Wally Byam Airstream Club.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 4 to 8 pm, with a Wake Service at 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. Prayers will be said at 10 am Friday, November 5, in the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Parish in Fremont, in care of the funeral home.
