Lloyd William Matthews, age 71, of First Ave., Tiffin, died at 9 pm Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1935, in McCutchenville, to the late Dorsey and Regina (Miller) Matthews. On March 29, 1957, in Tiffin, he married Marlene Spaun, and she survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Ray Lee (Gayle) Matthews, Michael Lloyd (Tammy) Matthews, Tim Gene (Sandy) Matthews, and Daniel (Patricia) Matthews, all of Tiffin, and James (Teri) Matthews of Lawtey, Florida; Malissa Matthews, a granddaughter, resided with Lloyd and Marlene since she was four months old; nine grandsons and three granddaughters; four great granddaughters, and one great grandson; one brother, Ray Gene Matthews of Tiffin; four sisters, Mary Ann Forstner, Beverly Hoover, Alice Tuttle, and Susan Gibson, all of Tiffin; six step brothers, Bill and Woody Snyder, both of Tiffin, Jim Snyder of Fargo, North Dakota, Donald Snyder of Bowling Green, Arnie Snyder of Stearns, Kentucky, and Chester Snyder of New Riegel; three step-sisters, Dorothy Hill of Findlay, Barbara Shaffer of Sarasota, Florida, and Pauline Dewald of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Irene Matthews, a brother, Dick Matthews, two sisters, Cheryl Matthews and Norma McDonald, and two step-sisters, Donna Saxion and Betty Kerr.
Mr. Matthews was a US Navy veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Eagles.
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113, with Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to services.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care.
