Lindsay Marie Kagy, 55, passed peacefully surrounded by her friends and family on May 10, 2017, at the home of her lifelong friend Mary Lou and her husband Lynn Barnes in Tiffin.
Lindsay was born June 3, 1961, in Tiffin to Robert N. and Mary L. (Wapshall) Kagy.
Lindsay is survived by her mother, Mary Kagy of Bloomville; and a brother, Mark Kagy of Columbus.
Lindsay was preceded in death by her father.
Lindsay was a 1979 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and a 1985 graduate of Heidelberg University, where she earned a Bachelors’ Degree.
She had worked at various places including the Bloomville UCC, AAA Tiffin Auto Club and the last 15 years at Heidelberg University. While at Heidelberg, she worked in the Honors Program and then served the faculty who worked at the Pfleiderer Center. She also worked at Center for Academic and Career Support, and most recently in Student Engagement as an Administrative Assistant.
Lindsay loved yoga, was a certified instructor for years, and was the co-owner of Gem Yoga and Life Enrichment Studio in downtown Tiffin. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends, especially her trips to Palestine and the numerous mission trips for which she volunteered. She loved animals, biking, hiking (especially with her beloved dog Max), music and writing. She was deeply interested in social justice and human rights.
Lindsay touched so many through her bright smile, her genuine concern for the welfare of all, and the light of her life touched the dark places in the lives of many.
Lindsay battled cancer courageously for a little over a year. She requested her body be donated to MedCure for cancer research.
A Memorial service will be 11a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Heidelberg’s Great Hall with Rev. Cathy Wirth and Rev. Paul Stark officiating. A potluck luncheon will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Project Peace c/o Sister Paulette Schroeder, Sisters of St. Francis, Tiffin.
