Kenneth E. Whitman, age 94, formerly of Gross St. died at 5:45 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Seneca House, Tiffin.
Kenneth was born to the late Ervin and Elnora (Shiley) Whitman on November 15, 1915 in Fort Seneca, Ohio. He married Jeanne Simonis July 4, 1942 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on February 26, 1995.
Survivors include; one son, Gary (Alice) Whitman of Manistee, Mich.; one daughter, Barbara (Richard) Seemuth of Fort Myers, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, James Whitman; a brother Emery Whitman and a sister, Irene McQuistion.
Kenneth was a member of the United States Army during WWII. He retired as owner/operator of Whitman’s Cleaning Service. Kenneth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 with a wake service at 1:45 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883 (419) 447-3113. The K of C 4th Degree will stand honor guard from 6-8 p.m.
Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or to Calvert Catholic Schools in care of the funeral home.
